Spring Dawns and Winter’s Heart Remains Inaudible

It is now six weeks since I first reported to Audible that Winter’s Heart by Robert Jordan (Book 9 of the Wheel of Time series) was missing the whole of Chapter 27.  They seemed a bit slow to take my claim seriously but have clearly since confirmed the problem, proceeding to take the title off-line.

I assumed they had made an editing error and that the tape or audio file with the missing chapter would be somewhere in their audio archives.  Had this been the case, I think Winter’s Heart, with all chapters present and correct, would have been back up for purchase on Audible’s website by now.  That this has not happened leads me to suspect that the narrator, Jennifer Mendenhall alias Kate Reading, had not even recorded Chapter 27.  Presumably the republication is held up waiting for Ms Mendenhall, studio time or both to become available.
